CLGA is dedicated to advancing good local governance by combining evidence-based research, capacity development, and strategic advocacy and policy reforms. Through these approaches, we strengthen institutions, empower communities, and influence policy to ensure that decentralisation delivers real impact. Below are the key activities that drive our mission.
We actively advocate for policies and practices that strengthen local governance systems. Our advocacy efforts focus on decentralisation, citizen participation, and accountability mechanisms to ensure effective service delivery at the local level.
We conduct in-depth research into gender and development issues to identify gaps and opportunities for promoting gender equality in local governance. Our findings inform policy recommendations and program interventions.
Our research team conducts comprehensive studies on local governance challenges in Ghana. We use evidence from these studies to influence policy formulation and implementation for more effective decentralised governance.
We liaise with local, national, and international actors to promote effective local governance. Our network includes government agencies, civil society organizations, development partners, and community leaders.
We collaborate closely with local government institutions to improve governance systems. Our partnerships focus on capacity development, policy implementation support, and monitoring & evaluation of local governance initiatives.
We conduct specialized training programs for local governments, national institutions, and CSOs to enhance their capacity to advocate for good local governance. Our training covers policy analysis, advocacy strategies, and participatory governance approaches.
