The European Union Public Financial Management Compliance League Table (PFMCLT) is a strategic initiative funded by the European Union and implemented by the Centre for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA) in Ghana. It serves as a diagnostic tool designed to measure, rank, and improve the compliance of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with Ghana's PFM laws.
The Adentan Waste to Wages project in the Adentan Municipality (ADWAWA) Project is a 48-month circular economy and local economic development (LED) project being undertaken by the Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA) and the Centre for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA) with the objective to contribute towards sustainable development through the development of a circular economy for job creation, clean and healthier environment in 12 electoral areas. Specifically, the project will: 1) To promote the development of a circular environmental management of municipal waste by reducing, reusing, and recycling of at least 50% of plastics waste generated in the Adentan Municipality. To provide employment and income opportunities among youth, women, persons with disabilities through innovative plastic waste recycling solutions. To promote behavioural change and public participation in reusing and recycling of plastic waste through educational and awareness campaigns. TARGET 1. Plastic waste collected reduced annually by 50% through recycling by 2024 2. 180 youths, 120 women, 20 PWDs, and 80 men engaged along the plastic value chain by 2024. 3. 300 litter bins placed and being used by residents in all the 12 electoral areas. 4. 3 survey (baseline, midline, and end line) undertaken to assess behavioural change in plastic waste disposal practices by 2024. 5. Recycling centre and other ancillary facilities built and operational by 2024.
The CSO RISE project is a 4-year Social Protection Project which seeks to leverage on agriculture (ginger and fish value chains) to provide employment for the very poorest, especially women, youth and PWDs, within the participating districts to improve their incomes and standard of living to access Social Protection Services (i.e. NHIS and pension services). The project also seeks to provide employment for beneficiaries through the provision of basic infrastructure, skills development, supplies and inputs for commercial production, extension services, value addition processes and access to markets.
The Fish for Development (FIDEP) Project is a 40- month-long Local Economic Development Project seeking to promote local sustainable economic growth and development through fish farming in the Adentan Municipality. It aims at alleviating poverty through the creation of employment for women, persons with disability (PWDs), youth and vulnerable groups along the fish value chain within the Adentan Municipality. A consortium of three partners is implementing the project: Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA), Centre for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA) and Local Governance Network (LoGNet).
The mushroom industry in the district prior to the commencement of the PROMUSH project was faced with many challenges including shortage in spawn production; the distance from the spawn laboratory and absence of critical equipment such as humidifiers, solar dyers etc. hindered large scale production. It was in this light that AdMA, CLGA and LoGNet came together, funded by the European Union to implement the PROMUSH project: a three (3) year Local Economic Development Project leveraged on mushroom value chain to create employment opportunities for women, youth and Person’s Living with Disabilities (PWDs), developing environmentally sustainable production chain in the mushroom industry and reducing poverty within the Adentan Municipality.
Ghana’s Strengthening Accountability Mechanism (GSAM) project is a five (5) year USAID - funded project which focuses on strengthening citizens’ oversight of capital development projects to improve local government transparency, accountability and performance in 100 districts of Ghana. GSAM is designed to strengthen social accountability by improving information to CSOs to enhance their capacity to demand accountability.
The Support for Decentralization Reforms (SfDR) is a technical cooperation programme implemented by GIZ Ghana in partnership with Ghana's Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development (MLGDRD). It aims to improve local governance by strengthening the capacity of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to deliver services and manage finances effectively.
The Public Policy Advocacy And Social Accountability (PPASA I) Project is part of a global project called “Strengthening the Accountability of Ghana’s Central and Local Government” supported by the French Government as part of the funding agreement signed by Ghanaian and French Governments within the programme called “Solidarity Priority Fund (SPF)” for the period 2014-2017. The project focuses on the application of principles of respect for the rule of law, consensus building, transparency, citizen participation, gender equality, efficiency and public sector accountability. The Project objective is to strengthen the implementation of accountability mechanisms of Ghanaian Government.
